Bridges Across Borders @ Village Underground
9th June 7pm-2am (Free Entry)
Bridges Across Borders and Village Underground present a night of Balkan gypsy sounds, Breakbeat and Dubstep, to raise funds for voluntary youth work in Bosnia Herzegovina.
As well as fantastic live music and great DJs, there'll be hoola dance, a craft/vintage market, and a chance to buy some of the superb limited addition clothes, mix CDs and photo prints donated by our wonderful volunteers.
The Project
Bridges Across Borders
For many the war in Bosnia Herzegovina is a distant memory. Yet the country still bears many scars from the terrible conflict; with war damage still evident and an ever present danger from mines, cluster bombs and Uxo's. The scars in society run even deeper, with suspicion and ethnic segregation still very much a part of daily life.
This project has brought together youth workers and creative artists from across Europe, working in conjunction with University of Westminster (London), Lette Verien (Berlin) and Omladinski Centar (BiH), to teach workshops in all sorts of creative disciplines, to children and young people in the small Bosnian town of Gornji Vakuf Uskoplje.
Through this program we hope to inspire creative fun and by bringing together kids from across the ethnic divide, help break down some of the barriers that still exist between them. All proceeds from this night at the Village Underground will go to help fund our work in Bosnia Herzegovina.
Massive thanks to all the artist, musicians and other fine folk who are giving their time for free to help make this happen.
